I currently reside in the Northwest Arctic of Alaska, in an entry town called Kotzebue. I am a graduate of Grand Canyon University and I hold a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Previously, I attended Oklahoma Christian University, from which I received a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications/Public Relations. The departure from my previous career in marketing and communications has been an extraordinary undertaking.
I am currently employed by Maniilaq Association, a tribal organization operating in the Northwest Arctic Borough of Alaska; I work as an Itinerant Therapist, meaning that, in addition to my home of Kotzebue, I travel to the rural villages of Noorvik and Kiana to provide mental health counseling. Previously, I worked as a milieu therapist at Western Psychiatric Hospital in Pittsburgh. This industry-leading hospital is known for innovative approaches to psychiatric wellness and care. It is at Western Psych that I developed my passion for in-patient mental health treatment.
According to CliftongStrengths (previously Clifton StrengthsFinder), my strengths are: Connectedness, Restorative, Intellection, Input, Responsibility. I am passionate about academic research, cultural and philosophical exploration and community. My earnest desire to serve, both as a professional and as a community member, exemplify my selflessness, dependability and ambition. My long-term goals include managing my own therapy practice and serving my community.
